In recognition of her long-standing commitment to global health, Dr. Etta Eskridge will be presented with the GAIA Global Citizen Award at our upcoming reception in New York on Thursday, November 13th.

A board-certified internist with extensive experience providing HIV/AIDS care in the United States, Dr. Eskridge brought her expertise to Malawi in the early 2000’s, supporting palliative care services across the country. In 2016 Etta returned to lend her medical expertise to support GAIA Mobile Health Clinics in the villages near Blantyre and worked with organizations in the north part of the country including Nkhotakota and Kasungu.

Dr. Eskridge’s connection to GAIA began in 2002 after hearing co-founder Bill Rankin speak at her church in Bronxville, NY, an encounter that led to her first trip to Malawi the following year and a lasting commitment to the country and its people.
