million
people, nearly half of Malawi's rural population, live beyond an hour's walk of a health facility. We’ve been working to fill the gaps and strengthen the health system for more than 25 years. We do this in partnership with local communities, health officials and our implementing and development partners.
We provide community-based health services and education to under-served populations in rural communities

Addressing Social Determinants of Health
Addressing Social Determinants of Health
GAIA addresses the social determinants of health to ensure rural Malawians are able to thrive. We address economic, educational, healthcare and environmental inequities and we bring communities together to strengthen interpersonal relationships and create an enabling environment for change.

Creating Access
Creating Access
GAIA creates access to quality health care now through the provision of community outreach services and mobile health clinics in areas far from fixed facilities and we are training the next generation of frontline health care workers who will staff rural and remote health facilities in the future.
