Improving access to quality health care, education and support services.
GAIA's mission is to deliver health care programmes through innovative approaches that enable vulnerable populations in limited-resource communities affected by high disease burden and other health challenges to access services within their reach.

25 Years of Community Healthcare
For 25 years, we have tested and scaled up a community-based Mobile Health Clinics model that has improved health-seeking behaviors and health outcomes for 1.5 million rural Malawians accessing services thereby decreasing morbidity and mortality due to preventable and treatable conditions.
Working in partnership with the Malawi Government, GAIA collaborates with local communities through commnity support structures and cadres to deliver quality primary healthcare in areas where the services are needed the most, and close to people's homes.
Our Nursing Scholar Program (NSP) has supported the education of 747 nurses who are working on the frontlines across Malawi.

Guiding Principles
We believe that everyone deserves access to quality healthcare. We are committed to creating access now and developing locally led solutions for the long-term.

Respect and Dignity
All people, regardless of circumstances, deserve access to quality care.
Team Work
Our work is human centered, focusing on the client, not merely preventing or treating the illness. Our staff and frontline health workers serve clients with complex healthcare needs. Our programs are specifically designed to be inclusive and to destigmatize care, meeting clients where they are, literally and figuratively.
Adaptability and Responsibility
GAIA believes local leaders with on-the-ground experience are best placed to design and implement our evidence-based programs. GAIA Malawi’s team is 100% Malawian.
Integrity and Transparency
Program effectiveness and sustainability require the direct involvement of those GAIA serves in both planning and program implementation. Through years of delivering on program promises and addressing needs identified by the community, GAIA has earned the trust of the local residents and their leaders.
Equity
Programs must be evidenced-based, accountable, and provable. We rigorously test our initiatives and promote the replication of successful models, to ensure the broadest possible impact.
GAIA Malawi
GAIA Malawi is an independent, local non-governmental organization, working to improve access to healthcare via nurse training programs and mobile health clinics in remote, rural areas. The GAIA Malawi staff is 100% local/Malawian, 53% female, and 34% nurses. GAIA Malawi is supported by GAIA U.S. with funding and technical support.
