We are proud to share GAIA’s 2025 Annual Report and hope you enjoy reading about our progress through a year unlike any other.
2025 was both a challenging and defining year for GAIA. Following the sudden loss of USAID funding, our programs and beneficiaries faced tremendous uncertainty. But thanks to the extraordinary support of our donors, staff, and partners, GAIA responded quickly to protect critical services and ensure scholars and fellows could continue their education uninterrupted.
Despite these challenges, GAIA’s programs in Malawi (and Zambia!) continued stronger than ever. Highlights include:
- Our Mobile Health Clinics provided 210,142 clinic visits to more than 103,000 clients across Malawi.
- Our antenatal and postnatal care services continued to expand, with 5,613 visits provided this year, more than four times the number delivered two years ago.
- GAIA's Health Workforce Development Program supported a total of 907 nurses to date across Malawi, Liberia, and Zambia, while awarding scholarships to 35 new nursing and midwifery students in Malawi and Zambia.
In addition to these milestones, our Annual Report features sections highlighting the dramatic nationwide decline in malaria cases, continued success of our nurse fellowship program, and GAIA’s expansion into Zambia.
